Beginning on the first Wednesday in Lent, after Ash Wednesday, we will begin offering a special weekly prayer service known as Compline Prayer Service. Compline is an English word derived from a Latin word that means “the completion of the waking day.” In other words, this is a short prayer service intended to bring closure to the end of the day. This service will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the chapel and will last for about 20 minutes. Each week there will be Psalms read, and responsive prayers offered, and we will always end with communion and the Lord’s Prayer. My hope is that the familiarity of such a ritual will allow us to deepen our sense of how much God loves us, and how sincerely Christ walks beside us. Our first Compline Service will take place on March 9th.
